CT Scan

CT or computerized tomography creates a 3D image of the body. It uses an x-ray that rotates around the body. CT is used to take images of multiple areas including the brain, neck, abdomen, pelvis, joints and blood vessels including the blood vessels of the heart (coronary CTA). SimonMed Imaging uses the latest protocols with advanced hardware and software to minimize radiation dose and create the sharpest images. A chest CT scan dose is now very similar to a digital chest x-ray, and both take just seconds. Using the latest CT technology, SimonMed Imaging is able to deliver outstanding image quality while still achieving a 50-80% reduced radiation dose.

CT just takes seconds to create high resolution 3D images for most exams. Some CT scans require oral or IV contrast, FDA approved compounds which enhance normal and abnormal structures. As with any medication, there is a slight risk of an allergic reaction but CT enhanced studies are routine. SimonMed Imaging is an innovator in CT and not only uses new advanced hardware and software, but in certain cases advanced post-processing software to further improve and evaluate the images. A new technology called Dual Energy CT allows us to see structures that were not previously visible, reduce the amount of contrast needed, and further reduce x-ray dose by about 50%. New software is helping us to reduce x-ray dose even further.
