Orthopedic MRI has distinct advantages over x-rays for
analyzing musculo-skeletal injuries.
Soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and
ligaments are invisible to normal x-rays, but they can be
imaged in great detail with orthopedic MRI. Orthopedic CT can also detect fine
bone fractures that x-rays can miss.
Accurate diagnosis is critical in the
rehabilitation process.
At SimonMed, we use dedicated
"coils" to enhance the orthopedic imaging quality of each
specific soft tissue area or joint we need to examine. With
the speed and accuracy of our advanced orthopedic imaging
equipment, we can
obtain images quickly so that our musculo-skeletal radiology
specialists can begin their evaluation immediately.
Orthopedic scans at SimonMed generally last
only 15 minutes or less. Occasionally, the injection of a
small amount of contrast into the joint, under x-ray
guidance, is required for the orthopedic CT.
