Traditional
colonoscopy is an excellent study with the ability to detect
small growths in the colon before they become malignant.
For the many
patients who are unable or choose not to undergo this
procedure, we can now perform noninvasive colonoscopy with
color CT or colon MRI.
This colon imaging study is
still not recommended as a complete replacement for
traditional colonoscopy, but it is a promising alternative.
Special Preparation
We prescribe a standard
cleansing preparation that you can perform at home before
your scan. A short medical history must also be taken prior
to the exam.
